The Sugar Art

July 21, 2023 by Lisa King Leave a Comment

The Sugar Art is a family-owned business based in Texas. They began making powder food colors in the late 1990’s and is run by Ed Frys.  The Sugar Art specializes in 100% edible and FDA compliant, food safe powdered colors, gel colors, edible glitters, and pearl dust that are manufactured in the USA. Make your edible creations come to life as you add depth and shimmer with The Sugar Art. Join me to learn about some of the many products The Sugar Art has to offer.

Versatile

The Sugar Art’s food colors are versatile and can be used with various mediums, including royal icing, buttercream, fondant, and more.  Whether you’re decorating cakes, cookies, cupcakes, or other confections, these colors blend seamlessly. Allowing you to create smooth gradients, intricate details, and captivating designs.

Assortment of Products

When I began attending cake shows and visiting the vendors, I quickly became a long-time customer of The Sugar Art.  They have such vibrant, saturated colors in their products.  And color choices abound!  There are so many choices of colors and various shades!  You are certain to find the color you are looking for.  I want to share some information about some of their products with you here.

The Color Solution with gold powder used as paint.

The Color Solution

When I was selected to teach at IBIE (International Baking Industry Exposition) in Las Vegas, I reached out to the owner, Ed. I asked if he would partner with me.  Ed and his products were a great asset to share with my students.  He provided Elite powdered colors and Luster Dusts for the class, along with their amazing The Color Solution.  The Color Solution is an awesome product that allows you to turn the powder colors into a beautiful paint.  The colors then glide on smoothly and have great coverage.  I already knew I enjoyed using Ed’s products, and I enjoyed sharing with the students some of the products I use.  The students were able to use his fantastic products and discover for themselves the benefits of the colored powders and The Color Solution in transforming their creative cookies into artistic works of sugar art.

Elite Powder

The Elite powder colors are great for adding shading and dimension to your creations.  The Luster dusts are beautiful and provide a gorgeous shimmer to your artistic designs.  100% edible glitter-The Sugar Art has it!  All his products are a joy to work with.  I recommend you give them a try if you haven’t had the pleasure of working with them yet.  They also have many other tools available online and their product lines of colors are continuing to expand.

Their food colors are renowned for their intense pigmentation and superior concentration.  Whether you’re looking for classic shades or vibrant hues, The Sugar Art’s range of food colors offers an extensive palette to bring your edible creations to life.  From pastel tones for delicate designs. To bold, eye-catching colors for more dramatic effects. Their food colors provide endless possibilities for your decorating adventures.

Metallics, Neon and Pastels

In addition to their classic food colors, The Sugar Art offers specialty collections such as metallics, neon, and pastels. These collections open a world of possibilities for themed cakes, seasonal treats, and artistic masterpieces.  Imagine the glimmer of a gold metallic finish. Or the soft elegance of pastel shades. Their diverse range of colors empowers decorators to unleash their imagination and bring their visions to life.

Adding Sparkle and Glamour with DiamonDust (Aka. Edible Glitter)

For decorators looking to add a touch of sparkle and glamour to their creations, The Sugar Art’s DiamonDust is a game-changer.  This line of edible glitters takes edible decorations to a whole new level, creating a dazzling and luxurious effect.

DiamonDust is meticulously crafted using FDA-compliant ingredients, ensuring it is safe for consumption.  What sets DiamonDust apart is its brilliant, metallic-like finish. It instantly catches the eye.  Available in a variety of stunning shades, including gold, silver, and a range of vibrant colors. This glitter adds an enchanting sparkle to your cakes, cookies, and more.  You can even add it to beverages for some fun!

Whether you’re aiming for an elegant wedding cake or a show-stopping celebration centerpiece, DiamonDust can transform your creations into true edible masterpieces.  It’s fine texture allows for easy application, making it ideal for highlighting intricate details, accentuating borders, or creating mesmerizing overall finishes.
